finding dacls

Hi all

I can't remember the tool but I thought there was something in the support tools or resource kit to help me find files by owner. I enabled quotas on a file server and found an unauthorized user. I want to look at the specific files but don't recall how to track this down.

Thank

Showacls can show permissions for a user, but to show ownership you will nee
to use something like subinacl. The /findsid=username option will help
narrow the search. --- Steve

Steve,

I have just completed running the subinacl tool. After a
few misfires, I was able to successfully discover the
complete path of the unauthorized files, and confirm the
ownership by someone who didn't belong on that server.

The result of this work is that I was able to close an
open file share and a user on our network is about to get
reprimanded.

Thanks again for your quick and complete response to my
query. I can't tell you how many times the MSFT newsgroups
have been hugely helpful. I hope I've been able to return
the favor equally in responding to others.

Give yourself a pat on the back and enjoy the weekend!

Sheldon
