Finalize a music cd

I am new at burning music cd's I have windows Media player 9,
I keep reading in posts about finalizing a cd after you finish
burning, I have never seen that option, and the cd's work fine in my car
and also in my home cd players.
I want to know how to finalize the cd, Please someone explain this
option.
