Filter Junk E-Mail before Rules and Alerts

I receive in excess of 200 e-mails per day. Some of these are to email lists
(for business purposes), some are personal, and they're for 3 different email
accounts. When I use rules, which are great by-the-way, to sort my email into
different folders for organization, the sub-folders are NOT filtered by the
junk email filter. It seems that the junk email filter is not run until after
all rules are run (which I use about 7, total). Perhaps the junk email should
be filtered as soon as the messages are in the inbox, before the rules are
run, to eliminate this issue. Perhaps it should even be a toggled option in
Junk E-mail Options. Thanks!

Have you applied Office 2003 Service Pack 2? One of the changes it makes is to filter for junk before applying rules.

I have, yes, but I still get a lot of junk that is sent to other folders.
But, if I temporarily disable my rules, then that same junk e-mail is caught
by the junk e-mail filter.

Are these server-based rules?
