Filter internal/external messages with a rule

Hello,
We have Outlook 07/Exchange. I'd like to set up a rule that will identify
any messages coming from outside of our mail system (i.e. internet messages)
and filter them to a folder other than the inbox. I tried filtering anything
that doesn't have "@mycompanysdomain.com" in the sender's address, but that
didn't work. (My assumption is that exchange looks at the sender as Joe
Smith instead of (e-mail address removed).)
Is there a way to accomplish this?

Thanks to all for the help.

Where I work, internal Exchange addresses won't have @ signs in them.
Exchange uses an X.500 address format internally.
Is there a way to accomplish this?

Create a rule that moves any message where the From contains an @ sign to
the folder where you want the external addresses.
