Hi,

Sometime after I upgraded to Office 2003 I noticed that when I turned off
the auto-filter some of the columns retained their drop-down buttons. I
can't understand it. If you click on the drop-down arrows nothing happens.
So it seems to be a cosmetic problem only, but I have to get the things off
my screen. It might not be related to Office 2003, but it is quite
coincidental. Please help.

TIA,

Kenny

If it is a cosmetic problem then moving the underlying cells off-screen and
back on-screen, say by doing a Page down / Page up, will make the drop downs
disappear.

Hi,

That doesn't work. I can close the dock and open it again and they are
always there. Perhaps they aren't "cosmetic". What else would create a
drop down box. If I enable filters then all have drop downs. I disable
filters and some remain. They are always there, but if you click on them
they don't do anything.

Please help. This is driving me crazy.

TIA

I've never run into this that I can recall. We can't have you going crazy
but I don't know what to say. If you want to send me an example workbook
I'd be glad to look at it...

You have another thing to try from your post in .excel.

(It may not work, too!)

Hi Jim,

I have sent an e-mail with an attachment to you e-mail address. I have
deleted the data inside the document for obvious reasons, but that doesn't
seem to have an impact on the drop-down buttons. Much appreciated.

Kenny

Thanks for the file, Kenny. As I said in my email this is a puzzler. File
it under "A" for Anomaly<g>. I'll see if the other MVPs have any ideas but
I think you are going to have to delete the funny row as I said in the
email.
