fill text box with query value

I'd like to fill a text box with a particular value from a query, so that
when the form opens I can display, say the 2nd value in the query. I'm
actually trying to display the first 5 values from the query, but figured I
could use five separate text boxes, one showing the first value, another
showing the second value, etc.

Perhaps better to use a subform, which is designed to do these things.
Then set your query to be a Top 5 query.
