Fill In Form

I have read many of the posts, have read and printed the instructions from doug robbins, and diane (somebody, sorry I forgot the last name), and have attempted to make a forms. I took a form that already exists in word, deleted the lines, added the form field for entering, set the maximum number of characters in the respose, protected it by setting the lock, then saved/closed it. Opened it up again to test, works great until I hit the enter key while entering the data and it just acts like entering any other time, it is not preventing me (the fake user) to just enter the data, I can enter and it just keeps moving the rest of the form down a line. Also, I don't understand the protect feature, that shows up on the screen when i am entering the text as a user and I can click on it myself to unprotect the form???? This doesn't seem right. If anyone can explain what I am doing wrong in "Fill In Forms for Dummys" I sure would appreciate it.

I assume that when you press enter, you are in a formfield. To stop the
other text from moving down, the usual thing to do is to costruct the (part
of the) form that includes the formfields as a table having fixed cell
dimensions.

To stop other people from un-protecting your form. apply a password by
selecting Protect Document from the Tools menu, rather than by using the
Padlock on the Forms toolbar - at least for the first time that you protect
it. Thereafter, you can use the Padlock button.

Diane's name is actually Dian Chapman.

I am having the same problem...I don't want to enter new fields as Doug suggested - especially with tables...I would have to recreate the whole document. Did you find an eaiser solution? I would love to here about it, as I have been strugling with this issue for sometime now....Thanks.
