I have 2 desktop pcs connected via their onboard network cards. Both machines
run windows xp sp2.I can ping each other, i also can share my internet
connection, but i can't view the contents of both pcs. When i search for
computers i can't find the other pc in the network.I haven't used the network
wizard because my adsl modem usually "transfers" from one pc to the other,
there's not a standard server and client.Windows firewall is enabled for the
local area connection with exceptions to every service except telnet.Any help
will be appreciated.

Look for a misconfigured or overlooked third party personal firewall, or other
security component. What antivirus protection do you use? There are several
other possibilities too, and any might be the cause of your problem. Read this
article with an open mind.

Next, provide "browstat status" and "ipconfig /all" from each computer, so we
can diagnose the problem. Read this article, and linked articles, and follow
instructions precisely (download browstat!):

Are the computers running XP Home, XP Pro with Simple File Sharing, or XP Pro
with Advanced File Sharing?

I have a similar problem. I can access only the shared folders on my XP
systems over my home wireless network. If I share a folder in a specific
account I can see that folder but receive an error message "Access denied" or
Access Not allowed". I'm not sure if XP prevents looking at specific account
folders if the system is set up with multiple accounts? I have no problem
accessing any folder on my windows 2000 machine. And, this problem with XP
only occurred after I set up multiple accounts on the system. Can anyone
help?
