Problem:

Ok I have tried to remedy this problem for a couple of months now and
it has got me stumped. I am running two PCs with XP SP2. I have a
linksys cable modem and router. I set up a network between the two
with no problems. I am able to transfer files with no problems.
However, I get the internet on one PC for about 5mins or so then it
loses its connection; while the other PC remains uneffected. I am also
able to transfer files without a problem and ping both PCs. After a
reset of either the PC the Modem or the Router it will do the
same...work then quit.

What I have done:

Switched to Firefox
Disabled Antivirus Software
Disabled Firewalls
Updated to IE7
Played with some settings within the router
Checked the hardware settings
Ran network wizard
Did some other little stuff that I can't think of that didn't help

If someone could provide some assistance they are the dizzle!!!

Hi
Did you check the IP lease duration to this computer within the Router.

Jack,

Thank you for your response. I did check that in my initial
troubleshooting stage. I thought more about Robert's post and found
that there were virus and trojans on my PC that my original virus
software did not pick up. Just as a last ditch effort I installed a
trial version of NAV2007.

It found the following virus:

W32.Spybot.ALRD
W32.Spybot.Worm
Dialer.KOTU

Everything works great now. The odd thing about it that I have kept
this PC free of all Junk. Evidently Not. I use one PC as a test
subject and the other as a clean PC. OH well problem solved.

THANKS JACK AND ROBERT!!!
