Hello,

I have many W2K machines and am having problems with a
couple of them. For some reason, certain files are not
showing up locally. For example, say that on machine A,
there exists a file C:\temp\somefile.txt. The symptoms I
am encountering are that while on Machine A, that file does
not show up in an explorer window (empty) or a DOS window
(shows . and .., no file). But from another machine B, the
file shows up fine in an explorer window looking at
\\A\C\temp\.

It's as though A can't tell that the file is there even
though it is.

This happens with some files but not all (very few in
fact). There seems to be no rhyme to the file names that
don't show. This has prevented me from installing certain
software as well as updates.

My Tech guys do not know the answer and have encountered
the same problem in a handful of other machines. They want
to wipe the machines and start fresh which is not something
I want.

Any help would be much appreciated.
John
