I ran F&STW first on my New Computer generating FastWiz on a flash drive as
part of this run. Then I ran the FastWiz from the flash drive on the Old
Computer. When FastWiz (actually the F&STW included in FastWiz) asked me how
I want to transfer stuff and I selected "Home or small office network", I
got a message saying the old computer was unable to locate the new one.

I know the net was up and running because I was able to view shared files on
the old computer from the new one and vice versa.

On both computers I chose "Ask me later " when asked for a blocking
preference. The old computer is XP Hone Ed while the new one is XP Media
Center.

Any suggestions?

The new computer has to be running the FAST wizard waiting for the old
computer. On the new computer start the FAST wizard and work through it
until you get to the windows that says: "Now go to your old computer". Leave
the new computer sitting at this screen and go to your old computer. Work
through the FAST wizard. When you pick network it should find the new
computer. If the Windows firewall or any firewall asks about blocking
anything during this process you have to allow it.

The problem was the blocking. When I told both computers not to block,
things ran. Actually, things appeared to be running until I was asked to
enter the password of my new computer. Then, I got in trouble. I don't
know what password I was being asked to enter and tried blank but it didn't
take. So, now I've restored both computers back to before this FAST attempt
and plan to go at it again tomorrow. I thought afterwards that maybe I was
being asked to create a password. But, if that's not the case, I'll be
stuck tomorrow at the same point.

Perhaps you could tell me what the program is supposed to do. I assume it's
not making changes to the registry and other changes like that on the fly.

Also, once I get thru this, how do I restore the firewall blocking?

Thanx muchly for your help and I shall look forward to hearing from you.

When it asks for the password the password to use should be displayed on the
new computer. If you can't see both screens at once then write it down. The
password is randomly generated and is case sensitive.
