When one creates this file on the 'old computer' one should ensure that there is suffiecient hard disk space to accomodate a large file.
To install it on another computer via LAN connection can sometimes fail if one has a slow speed LAN or there is other activity, such as browsing, which sends additional data across the LAN. This can corrupt the FILE and thus you will find it hangs and fails to complete.
If possible temporarily attach the 'old computer' hard drive to the new computer as this will proove faster and more reliable.
