file will not open.

i have a document 40 pages i was working on, kept saving it every few
minutes. now i try to open it, clicking on icon of document it says 'document
name or path invalid' right clicking on document and secting properties it
shows size as 2.3m

And what happens if you try to open it via Word's File/Open dialog box?

There are a few things to check.

First, are you clicking on the actual icon of the document or on a desktop
shortcut to the document? If it's a shortcut, right-click on the shortcut and
check the "Properties" to make sure it still is pointing at the correct
location of the document. If you moved or renamed the document recently,
shortcuts won't work any more.

Second, if you're using Word 2003, use the File - Open dialog box to
navigate to the file, but instead of just clicking on its icon, try clicking
on the little down arrow next to the Open button. Then select the Open and
Repair option. Sometimes that will fix a corrupt document.
