Slow Starting

If I click the word 2003 icon, Word opens a blank document immediately.
However, if I double click a document (worddocument.doc) file, Word takes
several minutes to 5 minutes to open the file. How can I fix this. It was
OK until a few days ago!

I'd try re-registring Word ("r"-switch) described in here:
