File Types - no GIF or JPG

Terry Pinnell

I decided to change my GIF association from PaintShop Pro 7 to
IrfanView. If I d-click a GIF or a JPG in a folder it now opens
(quickly) in IrfanView. Fine.

But if I look for GIF or JPG in Tools>Folder Options>File Types, there
is now no such extension. I even tried using Open With, and assigning
IrfanViewer to those extensions, checking the 'Always Use' box, as I
vaguely recalled that placed an entry (or edited an existing one) in
the File Types list.

Anyone shed any insight please?

No, it doesn't always do it.
What does it matter if it doesn't show under file assocociations, as long as
it does what you want?
If you want to re-associate it to something else later, just go through the
"open with" method with the "always use" box checked, or tick the file
association tab on the alternate program if one exists.
