File type icons change by themselves! Virus? Worm? Trojan Horse?

Hello;

I have a question--recently I have noticed that I have new file icons for many
common files--I was wondering if a virus or worm or something has infected my
computer? I know that when you open certain types of computer programs they
can change some file icons - I have not opened any new programs recently.

I go into my folder's folder in control panel and change the icon back to the
orginal file icon--but then some time later I turn the computer on and there is
a new file icon for different type of file. My compressed (zipped) files had a
icon like the WinAmp (lighten bolt) then some of my PDF Photo (Adobe graphics)
files had AOL (America On Line) icons. The icons have changed by themselves at
least 3 times. It is kind of strange! Anybody know what is going on with my
computer?

I know it is not a big problem, but I would like to know what is going on!

I am using AVG 6.0 and haved scanned my computer repeatedly-- no virus' found.
