I have two new Dell computers running Windows XP and I would like to use the
File Transfer Wizard to transfer files to them from my old computer, an old
Dell running Windows 2000. I purchased an adapter which supposedly allows my
printer cable to act as a serial file transfer cable between the old and new
computer and have connected the two computers through the cable.

I ran into the same problem with both of the new computers. When I get to
the File Transfer Wizard screen that should allow me to create a Wizard Disk,
the option to create as disk is "greyed out," i.e., I can't access that
function.

Any ideas?

Did you receive a Windows XP CD with the Dells? You can request one for a
small extra cost. If you have one you can run the wizard from the XP CD on
the win2k pc.

Serial port transfer is slooow! Use an Ethernet "crossover" cable instead.
