Hope Someone can help me with this one.

I was hoping to upgrade from '98 to XP and used the "File
transfer Wizard" on the XP cd to copy all the files and
settings (In cluding the My Documents folder) from my old
OS and write them to CD after the File that the wizard
produces was created.

I the installed XP successfully and again used the "File
transfer Wizard" to copy the files etc on the CD to the
new PC. After the proces "Organising files and settings to
be transferred" was completed about 35% it threw out a
famous serious error.

Is there maybe any other way to retrieve the Files from
the cd?I am not so much worried about the settings, but
all my documents are on that CD.

Any help in this matter will be greatly appreciated.

Regards

The file transfer wizard doesn't work properly. i had
exactly the same problem. There is a fix. After the
wizard has copied your old files and settings from your
old computer to a CD, copy that CD to a new file on your
desktop. Then use the new desktop file as the source to
copy your files and settings to your new computer. I got
this fix on this forum months ago from a user in
Australia. Microsoft would have fixed it by now if they
were any good. Their support people didn't know what to do
