Cannot Create Wizard Disk

Guest

Just received my new laptop (Dell XPS) and I would like to use the Files and
Settings Transfer Wizard to create a wizard disk. I do not have the Windows
XP CD. I see where there is the option of creating a wizard disk, but it will
not let me click there. I was hoping I could transfer files from my old
computer this way instead of buying another cable. Any advice would be
appreciated.

I have never used that Files and Settings Transfer Wizard, looking at the
instructions I see where one creates a floppy disk that is then use to
install the wizard on the other computer right? There should be no need to
go to the CD unless I am mistaken.

What is your old computer? XP with firewire? Laptop with IR or Wireless?
If a laptop then you can use IR to transfer files. Some help here
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;305551&sd=tech
but you can just put "infrared link" into the windows help and get
instructions. Ditto for "wireless link".
Transfering files is one thing, but to transfer settings, outlook express
addresses, etc, you probably want to use that Transfer Wizard.

...good luck..
