file size growing

Don

I've noticed that when I "insert" a picture file the PP file gets bigger,
normal. However if I remove that picture I don't see it go back to the
original size. Then if I put the same picture back in it gets bigger again.
Is there a way to "compact" the file like is done in Access? Is there a way
to avoid this? It seems once I put a picture into the presentation I should
keep it there because it will grow each time I re-insert the file?????
Thanks,
Don...........

On the Tools menu, click Options, click the Save tab, and then clear the Allow fast saves check box

Don,

If Fast Saves are turned on then PowerPoint keeps appending information to
the file rather than a full save to save time for the user. This causes the
described behavior. It does a full save every 10 saves or so. You can turn
it off from the Tools | Options | Save tab. Uncheck the 'Allow Fast Saves'
option.
