I have two machines ( Xp & a Vista) on a wireless network, both can happily
connect to the internet. However I cannot get them to 'see' each other so I
can set up some file sharing, can someone give me a push in the right
direction. thanks.

right click on a folder you want to share and go to the sharing option

enable simple file sharing

then from windows explorer in the address bar type \\comptuer-name

where computer name is the name of each computer...

to find the name of the xp computer for example right click on the My
computer Icon> properties

and see the computer name tab

Make sure both are in the same workgroup, both are using a static ip
address, Sharing and Discovery options are enabling in the Network and
Sharing Center.

Also make sure a firewall isn't blocking them. We had this problem
connecting one Vista laptop to our XP desktop though the other Vista laptop
connection fine. Finally figured out Norton on the first Laptop was the
culprit.

I am having a problem from my XP to the Vista. I can see the folders and I
have them shared but I can't access any folders except the Public folder. I
can access all the folders on my XP from the Vista machine. I have been
fumbling with this for a month now. Any ideas??
