File Sharing: Home vs Pro

I run XP-Pro on one of my home PCs and I'd like to upgrade one of my
other PCs currently running ME. I've heard that XP-Home has some file
sharing limitations realtive to Pro. In particular, I've heard that
"Documents and Settings" and "Program Files" can't be shared in XP-Home.
This sounds like a very unusual limitation. Can someone who owns XP-Home
comment on the file sharing capabilities? Thank you.

This is not true. You can easily share out Doc's & Settings or any other
user folder. It's a snap.

The main difference between Home and Pro (besides the $99) is that Home
can't join a Domain (but it can join a Workgroup -- which is what you'd set
up for file sharing at home) and it doesn't come with a web server (IIS).

Some of the bullet points in the second hyperlink you provide below are not
accurate. File sharing in XP Home is easy and while it may not be as robust
as with XP Pro., it provides easy file sharing and networking (via
Workgroups).

Someone has things crossed up. The file sharing setup in Home is
exactly as in Pro, if you leave Pro Folder Options - View on the default
of 'Use Simple File Sharing'

Under this, any users 'Documents and Settings' is private to that user;
all general folders, like 'Program files' are open to all. Though only
Administrators may be able to do certain things. And things in say
StartMenu under Documents and Settings\All Users are included for
everyone - this is where you put shortcuts to communal programs
