File share asking for password

Ok, i understand from a security point of view it is bad, but in this
situation, I need to share a folder without haveing it ask for a password.

I have set the everyone group to full on both ntfs and share permissions,
but it is still asking for a user ID and pass (same thing happens with a
printer on the same machine). I checked the local security policy, and made
sure the everyone group had access over the network, and it didn't appear
anything was being blocked.

Am I missing something?

If I rebuild this machine from scratch, and share the folder again, will it
share it without asking for a password?

That said, here's my take on your question.

It sounds like you disabled Simple File Sharing in Control Panel -> Folder
Options -> View tab. If your plan is to share resources over the network in a
workgroup setting with Simple File Sharing disabled, you have to create accounts
on the computer sharing the resource that match in user name and password the
accounts that the user are logged with on the remote computers. Translated,
users on other network computer have to have a local account on your computer to
access the files. The account have to be identical in name and password.

If you enable Simple File Sharing, you can reshare the folders and not have
users be asked for a password. Of course, this means that you are severely
restricted in your ability to limit access.
