Hi

I re-installed windows xp today, and decided to use the F&STW to make the
change. I saved the wizard data file to the 2nd hard drive on the pc. Then I
reformatted and installed XP on the C drive. I went ot re-install the files
using the wizard, and it says the wizard file was saved with an older F&STW,
and that I need to upgrade the original pc and re-do the transfer! I have
re-formatted that drive, so all I have is the wizard data file; please help -
I need to either find a way to re-install the older F&STW or hack the data
file so it looks like the right format and will work with the new wizard.

I've got lots of data and 5 years of mail in that file - I'd hate to lose it
all due to an "upgrade"...

Standing by for your good advice,

-Eric

Hi Eric,

I experienced the same problem before. I was able to solve it by running
the Wizard using the XP CD instead of the Wizard on the computer. Try it,
hope it works.

Hi Eric,

I may not have given you enough details. You need to put your XP CD in your
CD rom, when it auto plays -

Select "Perform additional Tasks", then "Transfer Files and Settings". Then
run the steps for new computer

Good Luck

My cd's had a version that was too old. But i had a laptop that hadn't been
used for a few months - that one worked great!

thanks for putting me on track.

I did that, but the version was too old. So created a floppy from my laptop
which worked fine, but outlook data was nottransferred - i had that backed up
though, so can restore it ok...
