File renaming

I have a need change the file extension to 30 to 40 files
at a time. I recently got XP Professional. I used to use
Win98 and the OLD file manager (Winfile from Win95) to
accomplish this. Is there any way to do this in XP.

There are utilities which will do batch renaming. I have used this
one: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/filewrangler.html and there are
several with similar functions and perhaps some freeware as well.
