I keep getting an error message that tells me there is a Windows File Protection error - "Files that were required for windows to run properly have been replaced by unrecognisable ones. To maintain system stability, Windows must restore the original versions of these files. Insert your Windows XP home edition Service Pack 1 CD now"
The problem I have is that my CD is simply Windows XP Home Edition and NOT Service Pack 1. I updated to SP1 as a recommended update from the Microsoft Update site I keep my computer software up to date in terms of critical updates and it was after one of these updates that the problem occured. At the time I did a system restore to a time prior to that update but the problem has remained
How do I restore these files under these circumstances?????
