File & Printer Sharing Question

We have a number of pc's running Windows 2000 with File & Print Sharing
enabled in a workgroup. We would like to disable this service but would
rather not have to go around to each pc to disable it. We can't use Group
Policy since the pc's are not authenticating to a domain.

I have found the registry entry where i can set it to Disabled, however if
you go into the Properties of the adapter you still see that File & Printer
sharing is still checked off even though the service is disabled. Does anyone
know how to uncheck this or do you know of a command utility that will
disable this service as well as uncheck the box for File & Printer sharing in
the adapter properties?

thanks for any help.
