File/Print Server

I am adding a dedicated win2k file server to our AD. Right now we use a
Netware server to store files and provide print services. All of our users
are authenticating to the AD (win98, 2k & XP). We have 7 other win2k
servers. 4 are part of the AD replication, 3 are just member servers. Just a
few questions:

1. Should the server be a DC of some kind or just a stand alone server and
part of the AD?
2. what services are needed and what can be shut off?
3. Should I break the 410gb volume into smaller chunks? I need to house home
directories and a drive mapping for 5 different departments?

I would break up the 410 gb into atleast 2 partitions. 1 for the system and
1 for the data. at 410 gb i would not worry about the size of the system
part. if you plan on any type of database you might need more space on the
system partition. i would say 20 gb would be plenty for the system maybe
even 10. then the rest in the other partition. I would not make it a DC.
just a member server would be fine. if you are not needing IIS you should
take it off and i would not put DNS or anyother services on the server.
basically the only service needed is the server service to allow for file
and print sharing.
