FIle permissions Help needed!!!! Read Only and Hidden Attributes only

Hi,
I am using Win XP Professional. Whenever I click on the
file/folder properties, I can only see "Read Only" and "Hidden"
Attributes with only Advanced Option available, under which it says
"Choose the option you want for this file" with "Archive and Index
Attributes" and "Compress or Encrypt attributes".

Why cant i set permissions to restrict or allow other users access
to particlar file/folder.

You need to disable Simple File Sharing.
