file open dialog default to show details?

Is it possible to get the file open dialog to default to show details?
I need to see the most recent file first. I get tired of setting the
dialog to showdetails so I can sort by date modified. Does anyone know
how to make this the default?

I searched on google for a way to do this and found many questions, but
no good answers.
