I have a file on my desktop that cannot be deleted. I have tried to rename
it, read only but get an error saying that it cannot read the source file. I
tried to delete it in dos, but when going to my desktop, the file is not
there to delete. When I right click and get properties, the name of the file
shows up, but has 0 byte for size. It looks like some type of ghost icon,
there but really not there. I don't want to really use system restore, but is
this my only option.Thank to anyone that replies.

Hi Meena:

I have just attempted to delete it in safe mode, but the file is not there
to delete. I also tried using the task manager, but when I attempt to delete
my desktop at the dos prompt, it says the system cannot find the path
specified.

Have you located the file within the file system from a command prompt?
Remember that icons on your desktop may actually be in the All Users desktop
folder...

Let me know precisely WHERE in the filesystem this file is.
