I have recently recieved a strange, unnamed file on my desktop. The
file shows as empty when opened, but when I try to delete using
PurgeIE, the file shows that half of my desktop shortcuts are in the
file. I've tried to delete the file permenately, it wipes out the
shortcuts listed in PergeIE and the strange file remains. I mean it
wipes them out off my system completely, right down to the back up
icons in the program files. If I do a regular recycle bin delete,
Windows gives me an error stating "Cannot read from the source file or
disk. I have the same result when attempting to delete in Safe Mode.
I'm running XP sp2 on a compaq presario. I at least want to get my
desktop shortcuts out of that file. Any help would be greatly
appreciated.
