Does anyone know of a good file manager replacement for Windows Explorer for
WinXP and secondly a search tool for searching for files and maybe searching
the content of files.

I haven't managed to understand the Windows indexing system. I have it
running but I don't get very fast file searching. Is it possible to set it
up so that I get fast searching when just looking for filenames themselves,
and secondly, can you also get fast searching when looking in the contents
of files. If not, is there a utility that gives fast searching for
filenames/ file contents.

Isn't "fast searching" relevant to the amount of files you have on your
computer? What's fast for me (with 35,000 files present) may be slow for you
(with 857,972 files present) - example, of course.

I use Total Commander, a file manager program that is excellent from

PowerDesk or the very similar Explorer Plus.

Many people recommend Agent Ransack, but I like the search tool
that comes with either of the programs I mentioned above.
