"File In Use" Message Box problem

Excel 2007
When I open a new Excel file the Message Box "File In Use" appears with the
following.

"PERSONAL.XLSB is locked for editing by "Robert Morris"

Open 'Read Only' or click 'notify' to open read-only and receive
notification when document is no longer in use."

Nothing appears to be "read only" and the new file works properly.

I have searched all avenues. How do I remove this Message Box?

Hi Robert

If you have open more then one Excel instance and have a personal file you have this problem
Open a new workbook in the same instance

Ron,

Thanks, I have almost always kept a blank sheet open to speed up the
opening of active workbooks. As you're aware 2007 has always had an issue
with opening new or active files. Funny thing tho, this Message Box just
started doing this last month while I have used 2007 for almost two years.

I wonder if Microsoft is ever planning on a fix for 2007 or will they just
continue to force Vista on the public. Have you heard anything?
