I have some file folders associated with older games I'm playing under
WindowsXP that I need to turn off the read only property. However, every time
I unclick the check mark and apply the change, and then close the file
properties box, the next time I open it it's marked "read only" again. I
thought there was some change I need to make in the registry, but I can't
remember what it was. Thanks. - Kennard

Hi Kennard,

Ignore it - the system does. The "read only" attribute does not apply to
folders, and is ignored by the system even though you see it. The problems
you may be encountering in the games your are playing are caused by
insufficient privileges, you likely need to add read & execute, and possible
write permissions for your user group.
