May seem like a dumb question but I am still learning. I am creating a new
website and originally, when I click "new page", it is titled "new page
1.html. Then I create it and save it, and it is saved as a .html. Just the
other day, I went to create a new page to add to my site and it comes up as
"new page1.htm". Why did it switch file extensions on me? I want all my
pages to be .html, not .htm. It seems to work and look fine online, but I
once read a tutorial that said its better to save as .html rather than .htm.
Anyway, it has me confused. How can I change it back? Thanks for your time.

The only files that may *need* to be named with a .html extension are the
home page and any default pages in folders (and with most servers even that
is optional). The remaining pages may be named .htm or .html - it is
personal preference, makes absolutely no difference to the server or
browser.

FrontPage normally uses the .htm extension, you can choose the name and
extension when you save the page - I NEVER use FrontPage's choice of name
for a publicly visible page.

To rename your page, right-click it and choose rename.
