How do I force FrontPage to use .html as default extension?

Each time I create a new web page in FrontPage 2003, I end up with a web page
with an .htm extension. Is there a setting anywhere in FrontPage that would
allow me to use .html as the default extension?

It would be so much simpler to include a check box setting "Use .html as
default extension when creating new web pages".

If there is no setting, is there a workaround?

There's no need to, htm and html are the same thing except if your host
server requires specific htm or html for the index page only...thats the
only one that matters.

It would be of interest to me for you to tell me why you ask this question.

On a new server when I publish changes to that server FP2000 uploads
index.htm as index.html & tells me it is doing so. Then both index.htm
& index.html exist on the server. When accessing the site the page that
is opened is index.html, the navigation breaks & I have to fix
everything on-line by deleting index.html & rearranging the navigation.

if your server admin requires your "index" to be "index.html" then rename
it. It doesn't matter about the other files, they can stay as *.htm.
Usually the server admin can list several "index" files eg default.htm,
default.asp, index.php etc etc. so they probably and usually would (or
should) include the *.htm and *.html version.
