Using XP SP2 - I am unable to download and save and files usiing IE6. Can do
this through another browser. Have to kill the job through task manager.
Have been able to download in the past. Have cleared all temp files - no
luck.

check point:-
Open Internet Explorer.
Tools menu --> Internet Options.
Security tab --> select the Internet Web content zone, and click the Custom Level button.
In that list of settings box find the Downloads heading You'll see File Download. Enable that radio
button. Click OK twice.

File download radio button already enabled. Any other suggestions?

Make sure it hasn't been disabled in the registry - use this article as a guide to check that it's
enabled
Disable File Download in Internet Explorer (All Windows)
http://www.winguides.com/registry/display.php/901/
For example: (0 = downloads enabled, 3 = downloads disabled)

If that's not the case, post to the IE Newsgroup with further details about what you've tried etc
Internet Explorer – OE Client

or
Web Client - General
