Download problems - HELP!

C

cblake

I have Windows XP Media Edition, Version 2002, SP3. Over the past month or
so, I am no longer able to download anything. This includes opening email
attachments, opening documents stored on sites, and even downloading
software. When the box opens to designate Run, Open or Save, the download
begins and gets to 99% and then stops, regardless of which action is chosen.

I use Windows Defender and McAfee Security Center. I have run all scans, and
no unwanted files or programs are found. I have run all routine maintenance
programs but nothing helps. I attempted to download the free version of
Superantispyware, as mentioned in another post, but got hung up at 99% there,
too.

Any thoughts?

maybe you might try to disable
your anti virals as they may be
configured to deny you the privilege
of using your computer the way
you want to.

It is McAfee that is the cause. Disable the scanning or get rid of McAfee
altogether.
