File Download dialog when using UNC or DFS connections

Martin Searle

Hi,

Whenever I run a program\batch file from either a UNC path
or DFS path I encounter a file download dialog, it has the
options Open, Cancel and More Info. The save option is
greyed out. Running the programs direct from a drive
mapping, ie going direct to the root dfs server, works
fine however

What I need to do ideally is disable this dialog, I assume
its some security setting somewhere, does anyone know
how ?.

Thanks for any help in advance,

Martin,

I may be wrong on this but believe that when you use a
uri like an UNC path (whether to a share or DFS path)
this is handled according to the settings for internet zones.
Have you tried when the involved servers are within
the intranet zone ?

Many thanks. I had a fiddle about with the settings for
the intranet zone and found a set that eliminated the
pesky dialog.
