I use IE6 with all updates installed. Lately, I have been having trouble
with only one web site, www.vanguard.com. I get the little box in the corner
that says "error on page" and when I click on any link on the page, IE opens
a "File Download" box prompting me to open or save the File. The link is not
a file and should bring me to a different web page. Everything was working
fine until only recently.

I tried deleting cookies, temp internet files, deleting the shortcut,
re-accessing the site, but nothing seems to work. I do not have any spyware
on the system, am current on Norton antivirus and I am out of options to
try. any suggestions? Thanks for any help.

I get the little box in the corner that says "error on page"

Doubleclick on that to bring up the error details window.
If there is a previous button on it use it.
Then read the first error message for clues where it went wrong.

You could also help yourself diagnose the problem
by using the Security options to change every promptable
option to Prompt (e.g. press P and Space and repeat to the end
of the list). It's a pretty simple page but you should then see
several prompts about scripting being safe. Either allow them
or disallow them and see what difference there is. The source
shows that there may also be VBScript somewhere, e.g., testing for
Flash support. I didn't see any sign of that with the links that I tested
but I didn't test them all.

Finally in case the site has recently been updated without your cache
being aware of it try clearing your TIF (including "offline content")
or at least try doing a Ctrl-F5 Refresh.

Good luck

Thanks for responding to my problem. I tried everything you suggested,
including clearing cache, temporary internet files, TIF and a ctrl-F5
Refresh. When I double-click on the error message, I have errors on several
lines, all showing the error to be "object expected". Still having problems,
but only on that particular site.??

I just installed Mozilla 1.6 and have had no problems accessing the site. I
just may have to stay with Mozilla to at least browse that particular site.
Thanks again.
