File delete anomaly

I installed Vista64 RC1 and as I had done with beta2, I tried to update
several files from Vista that reside on XP. Upon trying to save I am told I
cannot save. I run thru the process to get ownership and set off read only.
Seems to go okay, but on getting the properties again, they are still read
only. In frustration I just closed them. Today when trying to access the
files on XP I find they have been deleted. I was able to restore it from a
Vista system file, but not pleased with the results. Beta2 worked pretty
much like using files between various XP and Win98 ME systems.
 
If your xp installation and Vista installation are on seperate partitions or
drives it may be worth a try if you enabled sharing between the drives that
resolved quite a few issues for me
