File changes on me (help)

I downloaded images, resized them, put in a folder. Now when I go to that
folder the file has changed to ? and I can't open it in any program. I
checked with a file that I haven't change and the file shows it will open in
windows picture and fax view. Once I move it to a folder it changes and it
won't open.

What program did you use to resize the files? Did you rename the files
and lose the file extension (the three letters after the "." in the
filename)? Give a better description of exactly what you did/used and
someone will help you.
