Any similar *free* programs?
...even one which will just save my file associations will do.

That'll be because you've got one of the pre-req modules missing.
There's a page about it at the www address above.

There's a small program called Association Manager, freeware, that I'll be
glad to send you in an e-mail attachment. Let me know.
