File Association problem

I am reposting this because it seems to be showing (for me anyway) under
another thread by the same name even thought it was sent as a new post.. I
changed the subject slightly this time.

In 'Folder Options', 'File Types', we had set up a couple of new file
associations by clicking 'New' etc. They work ok when double-clicking the
files. But in the file types list, if you select one of these added file
associations, the 'Delete' button is grayed out, so that it cannot be
removed. Also there is no 'Advanced' button available to add new actions,
etc. Furthermore, the text above 'Restore' refers to whatever file type was
previously selected (hilited) and not to the currently selected one. This
*only* occurs for these file types that were added by clicking 'New'; all of
the other ones seem fine. Any ideas how to fix much appreciated

After clicking 'Restore' I got the desired 'Advanced' button. It was the
*wrong text* above the 'Restore' button that initially made me reluctant to
try that. After you suggested it, I tried it having had .txt selected prior
(figuring if it messed that one up, it should be easy to fix). And after
clicking 'Advanced' and entering a name for the file type, I now get the
correct description above the button. So it appears the incorrect text is
misleading but otherwise harmless. I've now got it set up exactly the way I
want it.

Thanks,
CCM

Try clicking Restore.
