I ran the wizard on a customers Old computer. The strange thing about the
Old computer is that Windows is installed in a floder called 'WINXP' The
Wizard creates a file but the NEW computer will not run giving an error

Your migration store was created with a previous version of File and
Settings Transfer Wizard

In fact I used the Windows XP cd that I used to install XP on the New
computer

Any assistance would be appreciated

Does the new computer have SP2 installed but the original CD was not
SP2? You can make a migration floppy from the installation on the new
computer after SP2 is installed rather than from the CD.

See this link for how to use FAST.

Can't help you. I've run the routine and gotten an empty
directory.
I've also run the routine, and it literally tries to copy
every drive's contents (I have 4 drives) into the 3rd
drive's (target) folder.

?????

I finally decided it's easier to reinstall when I must.

On the other hand, Using System Set Checkpoint daily could
be a nice idea.

Always works for me. I usually install the latest version on the new machine
from the cd, run it on the new computer first using a usb drive or if both
machines have it, a floppy. Go to the old machine and collect the files
running the program off the floppy or usb. If I feel like it sometimes I
will network the machines and collect the files in the shared folder on the
old machine or straight to the new machine. It works for in many different
ways. What I found out is that it might not work if two different versions
are used to collect the files and settings and transferring the files and
settings.
