File and Print Sharing will not enable

Hi:

I have a Toshiba Satellite Notebook running Windows XP
Professional SPK 1. When trying to enable File and Print
Sharing I am prompted with the message:

"Your current selection will disable the following
component. File and Print Sharing for Microsoft Network"

Even though the File and Print Sharing is unchecked
(disabled) XP thinks it is enabled because the message
states that I would be disabling the feature.

I can ping the user and the user succesfully pings out but
they cannot view anything on our network. The use is
behine a firewall

Any suggestions?
