File and folder count

Without running a scan with a virus or adware program is there a way to
get a count of files and folders on a hard disk?

Disclaimer: The above is my opinion. I do not guarantee it. Be sure to
back up any files involved and use at your own risk. Batteries not

Click the drive in My Computer, press Ctrl-A to select everything on the
drive, right-click within the list, and choose Properties.

Thank you. Now I have further questions.

Properties of the C drive shows 18.3 mb used. Selecting all the files,
including hidden, shows 12.7 mb. Why?

The number of files shown is 55,774 but Norton scans 788,507 files. Why?

Possibly because Norton is including all the individual files
contained within the .zip, .rar, .cab and any other "archived"
files.

In a command window:
dir /a /s c:\*
(For a different disk, replace c with that disk letter.)

For the record on my computer your suggestion works for a single
volume. It does not seem to work for My Computer where there is more
than one drive or volume.
