File already open problem

C

Cathy

Whenever I open an excel file that I have created it says
that that file is already open by, and has my name, and
that you cannot open two files with the same name at the
same time. It asks me to save it as something else. This
happens in Word as well.

I am using Office 97 with Windows 2000.

Thanks.

If the files are saved in the Start Folder they open
automatically. Try clicking on the Windows Menu and see if
the files are listed and select it if it is there. Some
words are reserved, so if you save a file as Start.xls
then this will open each time excel is opened. presumable,
its the same in Word.
