How do I turn on and off the history of searches Ihave done, I.E. when i
search google?I dont see the old searches I have done in the past when i type
in the search field.

Your Problem as you wrote sounds like the AutoComplete Feature.
A Dialog pops up when you first use a textbox (i.e The Search Textbox
in Google).
This is a more permanent way of fixing the problem than continuously
clearing your data.
Note that this is meant for IE 6 but should work for IE 7 as well.
To disable all AutoComplete settings:
1. From Internet Explorer, choose "Tools" then "Internet Options".
2. From the "Internet Options" multi-tabbed dialog box that appears,
select the "Content" tab.
3. Click the "AutoComplete" button.
4. Uncheck everything.
5. Click the "Clear Forms" button.
6. Click the "Clear Passwords" button.
7. Press "OK" to close the dialog boxes.
